Placing ads in SMF forum (like this one)

Hi, i think im going to try to make a forum, but i want to know what options i will have for placing adsense / ypn /other banner adnetworks on the forum? What I would like to use is vbulletin but cannot afford it.

Anyone have a smf made forum that I can check out? can I place banners at the top, left, right, bottom and after posts? can i also run different campaigns (1 for yahoo 1 for tribal fusion etc).

and also, is it possible if I have different categories in the forum (say baseball, football, basketball etc), can I set it so the ads change when a users goes to a new section?

I setup phpadsnew to manage my banners, and then just copied the code from it into my forum’s template. You can see it working here: http://forum.softdux.com

Did you make an actual phpAdsNew module, or just using an instance of it?

I just followed that link, and clicked on the banner ad for your webhosting, and all it did was open another browser window with the same page (the "lounge" subforum). Is it supposed to do that?

I’m still testing it out, and don’t have many advertisers on there yet.

What I’ve done is, install phpadsnew on it’s own, created the campaigns and then published them, which produced some HTML code, which I then just copied into the template.

I know there’s a banner ad module available for SMF, but it doesn’t work with my installed version
