software for a stock photo archive

Does any one know of a good software application that can provide stock photography managment similar to the functionality of sites like iStockPhoto.com, Veer, Corbis, etc.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think MODx curently has anything advanced enough and I think not even Gallery2 can handle everything.

We are searching for features like these:

• category organization rather than physical album folders so that images can appear in multiple categories.
• a light box method of grouping photos for a project
• multiple light boxes per user and also shareable among other users
• IPTC data from the image metatags automaticly added to the database as the image is uploaded or at least main fields like keywords, title, author, etc.
• advanced search options across the different fields of meta data
• a permission system

Icing on the cake would be:

• Integration with adobe Bridge the same way that Adobe Stock Photos is integrated. (this would be crazy cool)

Preferably an open source or free option over a commerical package (obviously). But if nothing exists, does anyone know of a system to The plus side is that this will only be used for the company employees so it’s not important to have a commerce/shopping cart system. It only needs to have a good permission system so only employees can access it.

That type of mission critical functionality is probably served best by a dedicated Asset Management solution. They’re not cheap and I’m not aware of any that won’t take either a significant amount of time to set up or a significant investment in dollars.
