Hey I installed the current version of Xampp just now...

Everything went smoothly. How would I use the server as an actual server and not just a test server, assign a domain name or what else...?
I’ve got the modX 9.2.1 files already downloaded, are those still the most current?
Does the modX documentation cover installing on a Xampp server then... any quick tips, give me a shout then, thanks.
Ok not sure how i did it but up and running... added a name and password, and I think I left the word root in the database field, cause I thought I read somewhere it was required, maybe it made no difference.
Where exactly did the default Xampp setup, install the mySQL database then?
PLus it installed phpMyAdmin then did it not?
I think I ’m ready for a "building on the default website" tutorial now.
So I’m cool, just need to get familiar with everything, and that may take awhile.
I am not sure I can make sense out of this thread... did you succeed installing MODx on a local XAMPP install ?
It’s fairly straightforward, but maybe the issue for you is getting familiar with Apache (you run Win 2003 server with your MODx install ?)
Anyway, a good thing could be to detail the steps you’ve taken with XAMPP and what are the problems you faced...

Hi David, I didn’t have any problem’s with the install I was posting in this thread as I went.
I may need some help to make sense of what I screwed up or parameters I may have entered, and need to figure out.
As far as the thread goes I should probably edit out some of the nonsense from the earlier posts.
I plan to migrate the app to a real HostingServiceProvider so I can toy around with it during my lunch hour.
What do I use for mySQL admin functions on my local setup then, I’ve really no idea how to do any admin functions, but that’s besides the point.
I suppose my crass newbieness can come off as rudeness, but no it really is stupidity.
With an Access .MDB you just open it with Access what’s not to get about that, mySQL confuses the helloutta me so far anyways, like everything else in programmers-villa.
Ok thanks for clarifying, I thought you were stuck with unanswered XAMPP problems, and since I have a decent knowledge of it, I could have helped had it been the case...
