Google Calendrar : Pretty nifty !

  I am stumbled across Google Calender and are absolutely loving it, it email emails you calender reminder’s, it’s actually the best computer calender I’ve used, along with Gmail Tasks and Google Docs is really awesome you can upload all your old stuff and store it online.

  Good grief you have no idea how much time battling link spammers has become.
  
  Blocked over 1500 registrations in the last 72 hours alone, and deleted close to another 200 accounts that made it through.

  We use stopfourmspam.com already. Human spam operations with fresh IPs not in their DB yet are the problem.

  In my experience, captcha with the mathsrting option stops them dead in their tracks (so far), unless they’re employing actual humans to enter the stuff, which seems unlikely.

  They are using humans sadly now, based on some emails with site owners after IP address tracing and whatnot. Stop Forum Spam tends to block the bots before they’re allowed to confirm registrations. The pattern you see is register, innocuous ad hominem posting for a week or so, then add the signature links and whatnot.
  
  If anyone sees low post count accounts with spammy signatures, please report to moderator with that reason.

  I wonder if it would be worth limiting the number of http items per post until a user has > 50 posts?
  
  I suppose someone will start a spam service where you can check the links in a post in addition to the IP number.
  
  Mollom does have a spam score for post content and you can adjust the sensitivity, but I don’t know how well it works.

  thought about the same. or maybe even no active links at all until a certain amount of posts.
