Fledgeling Flash Forum

This almost makes me want to learn Flash so I can work it up to serious usability! Cute!

And I’ve been meaning to make a Flash tree/nav tool. I’m not huge on unneeded Flash, especially for navigation, but I’ve got an itch and haven’t done any real Flash work in a while. ... some other ideas brewing too ... if I only had 57 hours per day!

Unfortunately, DF2 hasn’t had a CVS commit in 3 years and, as it stands, contains a bug that will allow any site visitor to delete your database. (Not to mention, flash-based forums have some serious SEO implications... ...as does flash based nav, unless textbased alternates are provided.)

Just wanted to throw two cautions out there before someone installed this on a production server.

I know; that’s why I am half a mind to see about learning Flash and fix it. It probably isn’t all that difficult. It’s just cute, though, not really all that useful. I would probably be better off "skinning" a mod of something like Tiny PHP Forum to look as cute.

Agreed. That’s the primary reason I’ve not attempted it yet. One of those projects that would be really fun to do from a development standpoint, but seriously lacking in practical application. Such is life. Would be fun for a personal site or something where your usability and SEO issues weren’t as important as picking out the cutest picture of your kid for Grandma to see
