recommended open source projects

WOW I have to say that I have found a few gems here!

I would like to suggest that we have a corner to recommend what we’ve found.

Maybe, even then progress from there to integrating some of those killer finds as modules/plugins!

I am sure that there are personal preferences but ... if we ante up sooner than later we might even start a grass root marketing blitz but all the hubbub in modules alone

I would recommend AroundMe, Igloo and Beacon from the Barnraisers foundation in Sweden. AroundMe and Igloo are still in early stage of development but it’s the only opensource social software I know of with the exception of DotNode (this one an alpha). Shame is, there are too few developpers working on it and helping debug, Tom has his hands full and things are not moving forward as they could.

I mentionned RoundCube in another thread, a webmail app. Not well known, and lacking in many ways is OpenRealty but it’s the only opensource realty management software I’ve found (if you have another, I’d be curious to know !).

The others I could point to are Textpattern, Plogger, Loudblog, Unclassified Newsboard or DocuWiki but those are fairly well known now.

I’ve usually been able to find four or five every time I looked into this, but it never came to anything and I never kept them. Next time I’ll keep links.

I had foloowed open-reality when it first came out but it never really caught my eye. It’s a shame. However, with a dynamic cart script .. ahem ... ahem ... above link please ... we could have some real fun

sugarcube is definitely a nice one and I’d have a clue until this thread that there were now social software too. hmmm, I just wish I had the time ....

Only very recently I met MODx (congrats to devs!) and just now saw this thread. I am a member of the Open-Realty Forum and as designer I use O-R a lot with the sites of my clients, besides my own site: [EDITED]removed dead link[/EDITED]
I have to confess that MODx seduced me and I want to give a try on the integration of O-R with MODx... this is already done with Joomla and Mambo.

Have you guys tried it before?
