Avoid converting placeholders

Hi, I am trying to write a short article about MODx but I’ve got a problem. Because I’ve built my blog with MODx, when I write a placeholder MODx convert it automatically.
For example in Wysiwyg this [*longtitle*] shows the title of the page but I want to see the placeholder as it is.

Is there a way to avoid the "conversion"?

I use a little plugin to handle this on the Pogwatch site, where the code is listed: http://www.pogwatch.com/utility/brackify.html. Other methods have also been aired in various threads, including inserting HTML comments in strategic positions.
