    Hi Guys,

i’ve got a developer who wants to do a job for us in Zendframework. We’ve worked with Modx before and we like it. he says though that Zend is more versatile and better documentated (pehaps he’s right there smiley
Now, can anyone enlighten me as to why should we choose Modx instead of Zendframework? I’m not a developer myself so its hard to figure out the pros and cons in this. I want him to work in modx but have now real good arguments yet...

    tnx

While Zend is only a Framework, MODx is a Content Management Framework. In other words, Zend brings you the tools to do something, MODx is that "something", what is done yet ( the CMS side ), but also has some of the features that a framework has ( tools, apis, etc. ). With MODx ( as with other CMS ) you can build a website in minutes, while with Zend you must develop everything to start publishing content, editing, managing users, etc.
Depending on the project, you would choose one or other. For general purposes, MODx is your choice.

The biggest questions to answer are why MODx and why ZF? Do you need to provide a content management UI for someone that does not understand web design and development? Are there other compelling reasons to constrain the developer to MODx if he is familiar with developing sites with ZF? It’s really going to depend on the nature of the job requirements.
