I’ve got the .php file accessing the database and displaying formatted results, no page refresh. It’s a lot like a snippet, you collect all the data, format it, then echo the final string. The javascript XMLHttpRequest function collects the string, and places it where you indicated. The Prototype and Scripaculous libraries make it really easy.
My goal is a sidebar events mini-calendar, where not only will the days of the calendar have different colors when there is an event, but you will also be able to display a list of events for the month being displayed in the calendar, all without having to refresh the page.
Then, of course, I’ll need to make a module for loading the events into the database. I’m looking at something like the Monket calendar,
