Hey, we used to do stuff like that in my sophomore year of high school in typing class! We had big old Underwood typewriters, and the typing teacher was also the town drunk. I had typing class second period, and the alcohol fumes on his breath was enough to make you dizzy by that hour. But...I can still type almost 70 WPM with 98% accuracy, 40 years later. He used to bang his ruler on the back of my chair and call me a dumb blond. I’m afraid I was something of a class cutup in those days. He was just about everybody’s favorite teacher.

Anybody ever used aaxine? You can actually watch any video in ASCII art. It uses the very cool aalib libraries.

I used to use something similar back before the WWW when I was running a BBS; you could do your graphic in C, QuickBasic, Ansi.sys control codes (or Nansi.sys), or plain ASCII and then save it in any of the half-dozen formats it used. One local kid used to do animated ascii porn for his BBS. Like the Good Book says, there’s nothing new under the sun
