Hi,
I’ve just installed this cms system . From what I understand we can integrate it into our own templates, but to be honest I just don’t understand how ! I have uploaded the html into the add template section , but where do we put the css and images ? Many thanks
Hi Ptityop,
The sheer versatility of modx can definitely come across a bit intimidating for new comers. Rest assured, you’ll find that modx is one of the easiest CMS’s to template after you get past the initial (minimal) learning curve.
Realistically, you could just about copy and paste your entire template directly into the template system and have a functional page, although you wouldn’t really be taking advantage of modx’s flexibility.
I’d suggest putting your css and images in "assets/templates/your_template_name/images/" and "assets/templates/your_template_name/css/" respectively.
Just make sure to include the full path to them in your HTML.
Once you get that down, I’d start learning about "chunks" and branch out from there. Chunks are little bits of html code that you’d like to use more than once. It can be as simple as a string or as complex as a complete template.
I usually create a chunk for my templates footer so that it is easy for me to update it across multiple templates.
Best of luck learning!
