    Hi All,

I am fairly new to Modx. I have created 4 sites. Anyway, I have a client who has their web hosting at Yahoo! Small Business.

Does anyone have experience with Modx and Yahoo! Web Hosting. I am not quite sure how to get Modx installed.

If someone can offer any help or a push in the right direction, that would be great.

I found 2 Postings on the forum generally about this, but one was from 2006, and I am hoping there have been some advancements since then. The other had no responses.

    Thanks in advance,
    Leigh

I have the same question about Yahoo! Hosting & whether it works with MODx, particularly Revolution 2.0. I have tried installing MODx there and I’m getting a warning during installation that the version of MySQL is too old. Particularly:

"MODx may have issues because you are using a very old MySQL client version (4.1.14)"

I have talked to Yahoo! customer support and they say we’re pretty much stuck with using this version of MySQL & they are not upgrading it anytime soon. With that, I am thinking I am probably not going to start down the path of trying to get MODx running there. My existing, non-MODx site is there so I thought it was worth a try to get it working before moving to a different hosting provider.

That said, the text of the warning in the installer says "MODx will allow installation using this MySQL client version, but we cannot guarantee all functionality will be available or work properly when using older versions of the MySQL client libraries."

However, the installer doesn’t allow me to go from here. The only button showing is "retry", and when I click it, it just takes me back to this same page again, with the same warning.

I believe this is an issue that was reported in JIRA, but it’s marked resolved:

      http://bugs.modx.com/browse/MODX-1404

So...while I’m probably not going to bother installing MODx at Yahoo! Hosting, it sounds like there’s a problem in Revolution 2.0 that would prevent someone (more daring than me) from installing it at Yahoo! Hosting given the version of MySQL they’re running.

      For reference...

      MySQL Server Version: 4.1.14
      PHP version 5.2.12

      Thx,
      M2
