Is this a good release to stick with, or is it worth upgrading?
It is running fine but I want to start doing more with it (like possibly Ditto to run a blog-type newsfeed) and obviously don’t want to get too far before I realise I have to upgrade.

I would upgrade. Full backup and all, it only takes a few minutes, and is well worth the time.
I have a couple of sites I’m supporting that I haven’t upgraded yet, but they aren’t doing anything new with them.
I agree with Susan. Definitely recommend upgrading to at least Evolution 1.0.2. Shouldn’t take too long.
Thanks - it’ snot easy to see which product to go for on teh download page (unless you are in the know) as there are so many to choose from.
I’ll take your advice and go with the Evolution 1.0.2.
