ok guys this may seem like another, "why bother looking around or googling?" questions, but it really isn’t.
I have a situation where I really want to go with modx as the main workhorse behind my website designs, and I have already done a couple without too much of a problem, one was deployed on one and one, ran into a few problems, but in the end it worked, also another was godaddy and again, a few problems, but really nothing major, didn’t even have to waste anyone’s time here.

Now I am dealing with another client who is on the infamous yahoo, I can foresee a few problems since they are still on php4...
anyway I am now living abroad and the customers I am getting don’t have the slightest idea of setting up a server or registering a domain, whereas in the U.S. 90% of my customers were already ahead of themselves (too many godaddy commercials laugh)

does anyone know of a solid host which allows easy settings change via .htaccess or php.ini, painless email, keeps their php updated, has economic VPS with reselling program where I can more or less painlessly host all my clients sites in the same VPS? (i’ve seen the hosts on the main sites, would like to see other experienced users input)

    much thanks guys.

      Do you really need VPS?

I use hostclear with SSH support have few websites on it and I never got a problem. Bluehost seems ok to and I think they have SSH support by default but they do not offer a business/pro option.

You can buy your domains with godaddy and host them at one of the above.

Thanks guys for your input, I should have written a bit better I meant to say, "i’ve seen the hosts on the main modx site"

I am looking for a vps because people aren’t so apt to use plastic when requested due to huge amounts of fraud, also many banks here (I’m in latin america) are pretty much a part of the protectionist/monopolistic conspiracy and don’t let nationals purchase on foreign sites,
so with a vps I can have an individual control panel rather than setting up access permissions per client and I can charge them directly for hosting per month and have much more control over the site if there is payment related issues, etc.
