    Hi all,
I am starting a new project, and encountered an issue. The site I am building really needs support for a forum, and at a later date, a shopping cart. When I say support, I mean ideally users don’t need to sign up for the main modx area, and a second signup for the forum/cart section.
I did notice there was SMF Integration, would would have been good. After a couple hours of trying to implement it, I discovered that it doesn’t work (my bad for not researching it more).

Can anyone suggest some integration module? I was thinking of trying Revolution on a live site, but it’s not the best... Lastly, I will admit I do not have the skills to code a forum, etc from scratch - general newbie tongue

    Thanks for your help~

Creating forum integrations that bridge between two user systems is difficult, and as you’ve found out, a reason why the SMF integration is problematic to get running smoothly.

A google search did find this for vBulletin (old, but may still work): http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=182213

      And, for Vanilla: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,45105.0.html

I was thinking of trying Revolution on a live site, but it’s not the best
What is it you don’t like about Revo? If you’ve been using the current download (Beta 5), you may want to check the latest SVN version of Revo (will be coming out as RC1 soon) - a lot of bugs and features have been fixed and tuned since Beta 5 was released. Be sure to check out the Revo documentation if you need guidance on how to set up Revo from SVN.

If you use Revo, you can check out the Discuss component as that provides a native forum for MODx - although, it is still in an early stage of development so doesn’t have a full feature set (see here for current limitations) However, it may be suitable if you can get by with a bare-bones forum until those limitations are removed.

            Hey everyone,
Thanks for the help. I decided to go with Revolution and just install Discuss - so far no real issues with installation. Haven’t really played around with the actual forum part itself yet, but it is visible (www.katskinner.com/forums/).
I don’t have a short deadline for this project, as it is a personal one, so who know’s the actual final version of Revolution might be released by the time I get to finishing it tongue.

Anyways, thanks again for your help and support - it is very much appreciated grin
