Hi guys
Hope you can point me in the right direction.
Have developed a modx site in a staging environment on my server www.domain1.co.uk/dev/ using local database ’database1’
now I want to move the complete site to a different domain www.domain2.co.uk running its own local database ’database2’
What is the best approach - both servers have the exact setup?
First time I have need to do this, so any help appreciated

This is a pretty common task for site dev:
1. Dump the database, e.g. using mysqldump -u your_username -p name_of_modx_table > modxdump.sql
2. Zip up the entire contents of the site into a zip file, e.g. tar -czf mysite.tar.gz public_html/
Once you’ve copied those to the new server, unzip the archive, slurp the database, then you need to check the following:
1. The config file in /manager/includes/config.inc.php -- update the username/password to the database connection on the new server
2. Login to the manager and update the web server paths in the Config tab
3. Clear the cache of the site (ideally done before zipping up site files)
Perfect!! had done everything bar updating web server paths (oops!)
