Image - Opens the Manager’s resource manager to allow selection of an image and/or the upload of an image. As with inserting images into the Rich Text Editor, images are stored in the assets/images folder. The TV output will be the image’s filename.

Because the images that go with the template are used only for css background images. They are not inserted with <img> tags. There is no need for the Resource Browser to have access to them; in fact a designer will most certainly not want content editors who have no idea what they are for deleting or replacing them, breaking the site’s design.
OK, that is copied - but please, point me to ANY tutorial where it says that images you want to add to your content, using the TinyMice editor "Have To Be In The Folder ’assets/images/" (I refer to my INITIAL query in this post using the "add an image" button, which caused all this long Confucius post) ... and I will take back any and everything and apologize to everyone on this forum! My word!

      Just a thought here:
Usually images are added to content as you’re adding the content. When you click on the image icon, the image browser opens and you can upload the image from your computer via that browser, and then attach that image to your content. That image, by default, gets saved in the assets/image folder. You can upload the images directly there too, but for the most part the images get added as the content is getting added, from the front end. And they will default to that folder.

Maybe someone will link to the tutorial you’re asking for, but I can tell you there isn’t a tutorial for every single MODx topic. Most of us learn by trial and error, experimenting, asking questions on the forum, and learning some more. Then we share what we know with others. It’s a process. Once you learn something that you think should be documented, you can add it to the Wiki, or create a tutorial, so others learn too. This is how open source works, we all share what we know, we all learn from each other.

No Mary, I am not pointing at anyone, not at you or Susan or anyone, believe me.

I want to make a point to my INITIAL QUERY of this post. And if that would have been read and understood than we all could have saved a lot of time.

I cannot see any images !!! using the "add an image" button in the tinymice editor ... the resource browser does not display anything! This was and stays my query and NO tutorial say that those images NEED TO BE in the one and only folder, the image folder under the assets folder. It is only EOL that got my question!

While your tutorials AND Susan’s tutorials are great, indeed, I just wish this point could addressed because it ’obviously’ is a missing spot and can cause a lot of frustration.

I don’t know, see, I am new and all I do is follow tutorials and if any tutorial says ... you can place images anywhere you like, I DO. Fact is, one need to differentiate. Now I know!

Thanks to everyone and my apology to everyone if I was such a pain on this issue.

We’re all volunteers here, and communication can be tricky, so be patient if people don’t understand your question. Ask again, ask differently, ask patiently. Keep asking.

Accusing people of lying and of giving wrong information doesn’t help us get anywhere wink I understand your frustration. When I started learning MODx there wasn’t much beginner friendly information out there. It’s getting there, just be patient.

I wish I could believe what you are saying, Susan, but nothing what you say is true!
I spent a week now on that! Only after EOL said what he said, I moved all the images my template uses from ... ok, to make it easy - from wherever they were - to "assets/images/ and - IT IS ONLY NOW that the "resource browser" actually displays all images! ONLY NOW!

Uhhh, no need to be hostile to good people that are trying to be helpful in this community.
You posted many questions at the beginning, rambled a bit, thread drifted...

BTW, are you now able to create subfolders and fill them with images?

              You will get there...

One thing to remember with all this computer design stuff: when it comes to code, resource paths, passwords, etc: you have to be exact. Being close is not good enough. Sometimes one little missing comma or semicolon can make a system design explode.

I myself have had bouts with all this stuff to the point of utter frustration. The culprit is usually some minor little thing. When the solution presents itself you will then scream "but of course!" The fact that you have wonderful people like Susan and Mary following this thread is a credit to this community.

Here is one other option/suggestion: we cant see what you are doing. The one thing you could do is install MODx and a sample of your working structure on a live server. This can be just a temporary live testing ground while you get the kinks out of your project. You could then point us to the pages and we can see the code. The other option is to give a select person (or persons) access to the Manager so that he/she could go in and see your template, chunks, snippet calls etc. Do NOT post your username and password on any live MODx Manager on a public forum though. But providing the Manager login to Susan, Mary, Sharkbait or myself (seeing as we are following this thread) might be the quickest way to resolving this issue if other communication exchanges do not yield any solutions.

Do keep in mind that this a free, open source system. We are a community. But there is NO real obligation to anyone and there is no money involved here. The fact that folks like Susan offer their time and knowledge for free is a treasured resource. I often reread her posts three times slowly so that I can really understand what she is saying. She is always spot on, believe me...

If I had read this before, I wouldn’t have needed to ask the question, (I just didn’t read it yet because I wasn’t that far with my learning. Neither had I imagined it would have had to do with TVs., sorry)

Well, I haven’t gotten to the point of writing about editing/creating documents, and I see that the new official MODx documentation doesn’t have any content yet in its "Using the WYSIWYG Editor", so I can understand your position. Although I am a Jewish grandmother, I shall refrain from making obvious suggestions as to the value of more temperate speech wink
