    Hi, I was told about MODx the other day on another forum so thought I’d try it out for myself as I’m looking for something a bit easier to build sites with.

    So far my first impressions of MODx are it is really good, I have managed to transfer one of my sites over to it in a relatively short space of time after reading a few tutorials compared to the days I spent struggling with trying to achieve this in Joomla or Wordpress this is a piece of cake smiley

    However, I now need a bit of help, I’m redesigning a website so thought I’d use MODx to test it all out on, the site looks good (some minor tweaks are still needed). Anyway, when I built the site in standard html with css to make sure it all worked I had a nice rollover menu for my navigation, now I’ve put it into MODx the css doesn’t seem to apply for my navigation bar other than the first part of my css.

    Do any of you guys have an idea on how I can fix this?

    Cheers,

    Dan

      Have you customised all the Wayfinder templates (outer, inner and row ones) with the classes etc.that are needed by the css?

        If you’re using Wayfinder for your menu, the best reference for styling the menu according to your css is kongondo’s free ebook -> http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,34176.0.html

        I bet you almost everything you need to know to work Wayfinder is in there wink

          Have you looked at it with Firebug?

          If you can post the URL, I’m sure someone will take a look for you.

            Hi guys, cheers for the replies.

            I’ve tried customising wayfinder with chunks but nothing seems to work for it.

            Cheers for the link to the eBook, I’ve downloaded it and will have a read through it when I get the chance.

            I can’t post a link to the site as I am currently working on a test bed on my laptop, however I’m more than happy to post the relevant code.

            This is what is in my HTML
            <div id="navigation">
            	[!Wayfinder?startId=`0`!]
            </div>

            And this is the code it references in CSS
            #navigation
            {
            	font-size		: 100%;
            	background-color: #278726;
            	width			: 960px
            	border			: 0px solid #000000;
            	height			: 20px;
            }

            #navigation ul li
            {
            	margin-left		: -10px;
            	display			: inline;
            	height			: 20px;
            	padding			: 0px 8px 0px 8px;
            }

            #navigation a
            {
            	background-color: #278726;
            	color			: #ffffff;
            	height			: 20px;
            	text-decoration	: none;
            }

            #navigation a:hover
            {
            	color			: #278726;
            	background-color: #ffffff;
            	height			: 20px;
            	text-decoration	: none;
            }

            #navigation a:visited
            {
            	background-color: #278726;
            	color			: #ffffff;
            	height			: 20px;
            	text-decoration	: none;
            }

            This works absolutely fine in a normal HTML file, but MODx seems to ignore all of the other parts to it...
            All my other CSS works fine so it is just this one bit.

            Cheers,

            Dan

            p.s. cheers for the heads up on Firebug, I’ll definitely be adding that to my software toolkit smiley

                Ooh, dragonfly looks good too, I’ll think I’ll have that as well laugh

                Anyway, I managed to sort the issue, I just realised that my css was fine, but on clearing my cache it worked until a link was clicked on.

                so I added this extra bit of css

                #navigation a:visited:hover
                {
                	color			: #278726;
                	background-color: #ffffff;
                	height			: 20px;
                	text-decoration	: none;
                }

                Now it works fine laugh
