Has anyone found that having a couple manager tabs open in Firefox is using 700mb of ram? I’m using 3.5.8 and I only have 3 tabs open, 2 manager and 1 preview and it’s eating up all my ram.

Firefox has got worse and worse as it develops in my opinion. Yes I have a couple plugins but only firebug and now memory leak recovery and it’s still a piece of you know what. I have even disabled the plugins with absolutely no difference. The first 10 mins is fine but if I sit and watch my task manager you can see it counting up the memory usage.

I’m getting a half second delay when I type or move my scroll wheel which is so frustrating. Even IE8 is doing better right now which is a horrible thing to admit!

Anyone else finding that FF is having these issues? I’m using win7 with 4gb of ram and it’s still running shockingly bad. I have read other reports it’s getting worse but wondered if anyone is suffering from this too and if you have solved the issue.

If this is in the wrong forum, please move it.

I have the same problem, 6 hours of working with FF + Modx results in close to 900 MB of memory for FF.
What I think is the problem here is Firebug combined with the manager and EditArea, too bad its not possible to disable firebug yet for different subdirectories (like /manager) on the same domain. Also, why don’t you upgrade to 3.6?

Yup, same here. After many hours (5+ usually) of work with MODx sites or anything else with lots of JavaScript will result Firefox slowdown. Fortunately restarting the browser helps for me at least.

I didn’t know an update was available but just upgraded now... This still happens if I have firebug disabled which is very odd. This has only been happening to me the last 3-4 weeks I would say so it’s something that Mozilla has either added or changed in their coding.

I just noticed you can now personalise the actual look of FF via a skin... no doubt that will end up making the memory leak even worse! Way to go Mozilla for ruining the best browser for developers.

There have been skins for FF for years. As far as memory leaks, this article shows that most likely FF itself is not doing it; it’s most like Firebug or some other add-on.

I’m using FF 3.6 and memory goes out the window when using Revo Manager. At the moment FF is using 490MB. Memory only skyrockets when I use the Revo Manager for just a short while.

What version of revo are you using, there were a lot of speed updates in the latest version and I’m a ff user and my site is lightning fast no matter how many tabs I have open or how many managers I am logged into.

Turn off Firebug, if you’re using it. Also turn off YSlow or any other extensions you have on.

                    paulp: Revo 2.0.6-pl2(traditional)

splittingred: I’ll do that and see if it makes a difference while using the Manager. I use Firebug, FirePHP, FireQuery, DOM Inspector, Adblock and Feedly. Why would these plugins cause such memory issues but only when Im using Revo Manager? I have no issues with memory otherwise. I mean, Firefox is a bit of a pig anyway, but it really goes to hell when using the Manager.

Because Firebug is known to cause memory leaks with AJAX apps. Same with FirePHP. All of those extensions are memory-intensive.
