    Hi Guys,

I’m quite new at MODx and I’m having some trouble understanding how MODx exactly works regarding stuff like news, blogs and product.

As fas ar i have figured out, every content item is placed in the tree-like navigation in MODx, but imagine having 300 newsitems, 200 blog items and having 50 products you want to display. Having that amount of items in the tree is not going to make it easy to maintain, as you cannot apply special filters on sub-items? I.e. if i want to find a specific news post, it would be handy to be able to set a filter on the results.

Perhaps i’m missing something here, but I can’t imagine the way i described it, is the way to do it...
I personally expected "Modules" in the menu to be a place where I would install a news module, or a blog module.

Please let me know how this is supposed to be done.

    Greetz,
    Richard from Holland

Why not create a few subfolders (containers in MODx terminology)?

      [*] news
      [*] blog
      [*] products

Alternately you could use either the approach that some Russian community members recently came up with to create custom DB-based news articles. (Disclaimer: no personal experience but I bet it’s good!)

        Hi,

        Thanks for the reply.
Well, like i said: "imagine having 300 newsitems, 200 blog items and having 50 products you want to display. Having that amount of items in the tree is not going to make it easy to maintain, as you cannot apply special filters on sub-items?" smiley

We are looking for a CMS for our customers that sometimes have several hundreds of news items, blog posts. Many products, etc.
For pages it is no problem in MODx, but the CMS doesn’t seem suitable for large websites..

        Thanks,
        Richard
