    Hello,

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying different CMS & bulletin board scripts on my web server, and I broadcast them using the virtual-host system of Apache so I have many different web sites all being broadcast from a single web server.

Currently, everthing’s working perfectly but I want to use some of the scripts (such as MODx) for more than one site.
To do that, I would normally copy my existing MODx (PHP) code folder into a new one and use that for the new site. But in this scenario, I’m effectively copying the same code many times modifying just some template or plug-in or perhaps some snippet code. Bulk of the MODx code remain the same. If I was to use 10 different sites using the MODx code, it would mean 10 x 10MB = almost 100MB of bulk PHP code, you guess what I mean.

Just as an example I’d like give the case of Zend Framework: I use Zend FW as an included folder in my PHP applications (broadcast as Apache virtual-hosts) so that I have only one Zend FW folder in my web server for broadcasting multiple PHP applications.

A further example might be Magento, which provides one administrative interface for multiple Magento web sites.

So I wonder if there’s a way to overcome that in MODx CMS. Do you maintain a shread code of MODx in some folder or do something else for reusing the MODx code?

    Suggestions and comments are welcome,
    Thanks.

You can use Revo for this, though it’s still in it’s last beta (but making great progress).

That’s good news. I’ll try it, thanks.
