I have been testing out modx and have been very impressed with the power and ease so far.

I need to be able to have protected, "authorized users only" content on my site, and believe that I’m able to accomplish exactly what I need with the permissions available within the product. I’ve run into an issue with being able to add a "Menu Item" for logged in users, however.

When you open the main page of my site, there are three menu items (the only ones that I’ve enabled so far). I have "Home", "News", and "Contact Us". I need to insert a new menu button after "News" for any authenticated user. I’ve created the resource, assigned it appropriate permissions, put users into the right groups, and have associated the resource to the top-level portion of the site. I checked the box to display on the menu, and chose a number that is after the second button and before the last button.

The issue that I have is that the button doesn’t "like" to display on the main page of the site. Any other page, it’s there. If you click the "News" button, for example, the new button will appear in the menu list. But, when you click "Home" (or the main logo on top) to return to the start page, the button typically disappears.

I’ve tried refreshing the page, using IE, using Firefox, CTRL-refreshing the page, and even opening up in a new browser window / tab. Nothing works.

What am I missing here? Or, just plain doing wrong?

Did you clear the site cache? You may be seeing a version of the page that is cached by MODx.

Are you using Wayfinder for the menu on the home page?
