    In Evo 1.0.2, when switching a user from Editor to Publisher, the top "General Setting" area of a page is reduced to only 3 lines: "Headline/URL alias/Summary"...

    Which checkbox do I need to select under "Security>Roles>Create edit roles" to bring back the full "Title/Long title/Description/etc.." fields??

    Thanks!

        The only difference I see between the resource permissions for Editors and Publishers is "Permanently purge deleted Resources." I don’t think that’s related to your issue. Is ManagerManager installed? If so, the answer is probably there.

            As BobRay said, ManagerManages is the most likely culprit.
            You will need to remove the file with the default setting in the folder that managermanager is in, the demo rules chunk is a sample of the rules used, but as long as the demo php file is in the folder it won’t even look at the chunk. (at least that’s what I’ve found, but maybe the newer version that changed)

              Ah yes - reading ManagerManager plugin info I find:

              // You can put your ManagerManager rules EITHER in a chunk OR in an external file - whichever suits your development style the best

              // To use an external file, put your rules in /assets/plugins/managermanager/mm_rules.inc.php
              // (you can rename default.mm_rules.inc.php and use it as an example)
              // The chunk SHOULD have php opening tags at the beginning and end

              // If you want to put your rules in a chunk (so you can edit them through the Manager),
              // create the chunk, and enter its name in the configuration tab.
              // The chunk should NOT have php tags at the beginning or end

              Thanks a lot for your help! laugh

                As BobRay said, ManagerManages is the most likely culprit.

                I’ve just encountered the same "Headline" problem, but luckily this thread turned up in a forum search to point me in the right direction.

                I’ve just spent some time trying to work out what was actually going on. I didn’t want to disable ManagerManager entirely (whose actual existence itself only became apparent to me a few days ago!), because it turns out that the "image preview" feature (which is provided by ManagerManager) is actually quite useful to me.

                In case it helps others:

                In my setup (MODx 1.0.2), where I haven’t knowingly changed these settings from the ’demo site’ defaults, it turns out (after much investigation and head-scratching) that the demo rules are coming from the "mm_demo_rules" chunk, and the files in /assets/plugins/managermanager don’t seem to be being used (ie, the opposite of your experience).

                There is ManagerManager documentation in http://mysite.dom/assets/plugins/managermanager/docs/index.htm (replace mysite.dom as appropriate to your own site).

                To configure ManagerManager, look in Elements » Manage Elements » Plugins
                (although, like me, you’ll have to try to find out how it works before changing anything!)

                I have to say that the ManagerManager changes (Headline, etc) took me completely by surprise, as I didn’t know at all what had caused them. While developing my site, I had been logged in as an administrator, and only now was I applying what I thought would be the final changes needed to accommodate the final editor end users, and doing some testing with an editor account - big surprise! Maybe the demo site content needs to be reworked a little to draw more attention to ManagerManager (and how it works), and to some of the other custom setup that it does?

                Again, in case it helps others:

                I think I’ll duplicate the "mm_demo_rules" chunk and then use that as the rule source, with all of the rules which I don’t think I’ll want commented out.

                The section that affects editor users are the lines referencing the
                $news_role = '3';

                setting (as the editor role has the value 3 in MODx internally).

                The bits that really took me by surprise were the changes to the "News story template", which are the lines referencing the
                $news_tpl = '8';

                setting. This, as far as I can tell, relates to the MODx internal value for my own "News Article" template, which is quite an amazing coincidence as this was a template which I actually added myself, and was not an already existing document as part of the demo site content(!).

                I also have a question:

                In Elements » Manage Elements » Plugins » ManagerManager » Configuration, there is a text field "Plugin configuration", which the installation docs (see above) say that you have to paste certain text into, if doing a new install.

                ManagerManager was already installed with MODx, and the field contains:

                &config_chunk=Configuration Chunk;text;mm_demo_rules &remove_deprecated_tv_types_pref=Remove deprecated TV types;list;yes,no;yes &which_jquery=jQuery source;list;local (assets/js),remote (google code),manual url (specify below);local (assets/js) &js_src_type=jQuery URL override;text;

                You can see that this sets where the rules are coming from (the mm_demo_rules chunk).

                Since I want to change the rules from the default and remove a number of rules, I will need to change this to refer to my own replacement chunk. However, I’m not clear as to how to do so, as there are also a number of form elements below this text field, described as "parameter display".

                Am I supposed to change the text in the "Plugin configuration" field, or should I change the text in the "Configuration Chunk" in the "parameter display". It’s not clear whether the "parameter display" is supposed to only be for a more readable visual reference, or whether these fields are intended to be editable? It’s quite confusing having the two similar things next to each other!
