Howdy howdy,
I want to add to the site a login section, and have the page refresh or cache according to whether there’s a change in the login situation, and only allow pages accessible to all to be able to cache.
looks like the entire site is refreshing every time right now, and I don’t know why that is, as my snippet call inside my template is inside [[ ]] and the pages are set to cacheable.
would it be easy or possible at all to do the login though AJAX (would it help at all?)

Have you looked at your /assets/cache/ directory to see if cache files are being written? Usually you get permissions errors if MODx has trouble writing to that directory.
Are you running any plugins that may be circumventing the caching operations?
Don’t get AJAX involved yet... it only complicates debugging. I see AJAX largely as an optimization step, because pretty much everything you do with AJAX can be done without AJAX (albeit less gracefully)... but the point is that premature optimization kills soooo many projects. Don’t optimize until the end, my friend.
I checked the cache pages and they start with
<?php die(’Unauthorized access.’); ?>
is this normal ?
