I’m using resources that have a bunch of info that ditto of the parent document goes through. Is there a way to not have them as links (as in the resource is inaccessible without ditto’s call)
and on a side note, is there a way to make all new resources to have a certain template assigned to depending on the parent document, without it being the same as the parent document?

You can clear the Show in Menu checkbox, or if you use the method described below, it won’t be an issue, since Wayfinder will not display the unpublished container nor its children.
When I want documents (for example news documents) to have a specific template, but the main News page has a different one, I just use a different, unpublished document with the news page template to contain the individual news documents so they’ll inherit its template, and tell Ditto on the main News page to use that unpublished document as the &parents value.
For my own sites I don’t even bother to do that; I create the first individual news document, assign it the template and any other settings that I want, then for subsequent news documents I simply duplicate the first one and edit the necessary content fields.
thanks Susan.
I’ve got this fear of having too many resources that I need to get over.
