MODX in Germany

Hi all,

I’ve already thought about creating "events" for MODX users in Germany.

I’ll talk with Mac Conin on Friday about some options and opinions and will publish a few facts later…
I’d like to see some points in Germany where MODX users can meet: Munich (me), Cologne (think Mac will), Stuttgart(?), Hamburg(?), Berlin(?),Dresden(?), Leipzig(?) etc.

So stay tuned with this thread and I hope we can start next week with some details.

I’m afraid my german isn’t good enough to actually properly discuss something in German, but there are a lot of people in Germany and that sounds like a good place to start off European mainland meetups.

Since we also have a lot of french users we could think about places nearby the french border (Karlsruhe [me], Freiburg, Wiesbaden, Saarbrücken) or more western like Bonn for also gathering Benelux.

I don`t know if you already were into MODX 1.5 years ago... we had a exhibiton at the Open Source Conference in Karlsruhe and also a year before at FrosCon in Cologne. Perhaps it would be a good idea to communicate it in the german forums on modxcms.de since there are not much germans active here.

I will post a notice in the International Support & Translations forum and we’ll look at adding Meetup Group to the sub forums in each language/country forum as we move forward. Please PM me if you need help.

Sure! I think for now we should do local meetings first like you for Karlsruhe, me for Munich, Mac for Cologne. But I’d like to do an event about MODX in the next years which could include Netherland, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, etc. But as this will be much effort (I’m currently doing sth. like this for InDesign), this won’t be before 2012.

I noticed that you’ve organized that thing in Cologne. About your forums - don’t know, it’s already another forum to look at and functionality isn’t very good (e.g. notify?). But maybe that makes more sense to me in the coming weeks…
Let’s first think about how we can start in our city and what we’d do in our meetings.

So we’re just planning to start 3 user groups in Germany in the next time: Munich, Karlsruhe, Cologne

We will do lots of changes including a german website, press material and stuff like that.
To help other groups, we will release them for everyone (flyers, material, etc.) who will do a modx user group.

We (mindeffects aka Oliver an me, Mac) had yesterday
our first unofficial exiting startup meeting here in Cologne.

Our plans are to nail down an official meeting here
in Cologne within the next weeks.
