This issue isn’t specifically related to MODx, but I figured someone here could assist. Looking at stat tracking logs, one of my site’s more popular pages is www.my-domain.com and closely following is www.my-domain.com/index.php. Despite the content being identical, I understand that the search engines see these are two unique pages which is bad because it "splits" the quality rank between them rather than one page getting the better score of both of them.
My question: How do you resolve this issue? My choice would be to avoid the index.php so the site URL always looks like a TLD. In fact, I’m not even sure how visitors are even finding their way to /index.php because there’s no direct link to it anywhere so that would be another question: How are visitors getting access to /index.php?
Anyway, what is the consensus on this and how is it fixed? Thanks.
