Another Documentation Suggestion: Search Feature for Repository

I’ve been using MODx seriously for about a year, and I’m just now finding this:

There is a site-wide search on that page. Any chance providing a way to search ONLY the repository? That would really make it easier to search for pre-existing solutions before someone goes off to re-invent the wheel.

Can you clarify the difference between "Add-ons" and "Core Extensions"? I guess I’m having a hard time picturing a modification to the core that wouldn’t put your ability to upgrade at risk... but maybe I’m stuck in the Evolution world instead of the way Revolution works.

It might be worthwhile to specify "Modules, Snippets, and Plugins" (or whatever their new terminology will be) alongside the "Add-ons" heading... it’s always nice to have a sub-category to group results by.

Just thoughts... thanks for the opportunity for feedback.

It would be nice to have filtering for items... Like for templates a color, column count, images, and javascript would be nice options or starters. Validation if any/by type.

Filtering by modx version would also be nice or by author and last updated (first added/last update). It would also be cool to have submission statistics (who has most templates by count, top favorite templates, most/fewest revisions)

Once we get a chance to look at it i’m sure other things will come to mind..

I thought I was in 2nd or 3rd (granted who said it was a race?) I guess this means I don’t need to post the other templates I have ready?

I can’t say that I have given tags any thought for those elements. I guess that could work, but would that still allow you to filter things down to just "black one column css templates with images" as an example?

I kind of like how sourceforge allows me to narrow down searches based on programing and database languages, interface languages, progress, activity, developers, etc. It would be nice to see some of that functionality in our repository perhaps with a touch of ajax so it’s filtering as you go?

Granted I would still need make a note to add that information as tags going forward....

I just can’t wait for the new faster repository so I guess scratch my idea if it’s going to slow down it’s release
