Working smarter

Hi all,

Just wondering if I could be doing this better:

I have a series of containers with documents contained within. The whole of the template has a TV named left column. Most elements in the left column remain throughout, so I have placed them in the default text area of the TV. The problem is that I have consistent elements for each container, for example, I have a news page, I have the calendar on these pages, as it is at the minute, for every news item I publish, I have to add the calendar snippet code to the bottom of the other elements on the news page.

Not a major problem, but when advising the client, it gets a little tiresome explaining that they need to copy the code from here and paste it there.

I’m sure there is some MODx feature that I am not taking advantage of, can anyone let me know what it is?

Never copy paste again, unless you want to change from the "Section default". Simply make the default of your TV be @INHERIT which is an @Binding (detailed here) and one of the things that once you get will make your life totally different when building sites. I don’t think I’ve built a site without @Bindings in more than a year ... they’re simply way too helpful!

I knew I was missing something, thats gonna save me a hell of a lot of time.
