Hi, I have a need to build a website based on MODx where two or three pages in the site will display a Javascript-based interface (DOJO) to a moderately complex PHP application. I plan to develop this using Eclipse PDT and xdebug.

Has anyone done something like this? What is the best approach?

I am thinking of writing a generic snippet that takes the GET and POST parameters and passes them unprocessed to the main PHP script of my application, then displays the output from that script. I think this would create a clear separation of MODx from my custom application.

A couple of years ago I used the MODxAPI library (http://modxcms.com/extras/package/286) to style the output of PHP scripts to look like a page on the site. However I see that library is 3.5 years old, so I am wary of using it.

Any hints or advice is appreciated.

    thanks, Andy

MODx Revolution seems particulary adapted for your scenario.

Each of your Dojo components can point to a specific processor and return a JSON based response (If you have Revolution installed take a look at Quip for an example on how tu use it).

I believe that splittingred is using Eclipse. See here for an example of how to work with MODx and your favorite tools (Well it’s not really exactly what you were asking for but the method would still work for you needs).

        Thanks!

I decided to use ActionScript and Flex to keep all my code together. It’s probably also easier to develop with and debug than Javascript.
