Since the change to the modx.com domain I’ve been unable to access modx.com or any of it’s subdomains! On trying to access I get a “can’t connect to server” message.
Setup: Mac OS X 10.6.6
I have tried:
• Different browsers – Safari/Firefox/Opera, the latter 2 are setup not to save cookies, cache etc on shutdown.
• Manually clearing cookies.
• Manually clearing browser cache.
• Restarting browser/machine.
• Flushing DNS cache with the terminal.
• Using another ISP.
• Looking for errant rules in Little Snitch.
Anyone got any clue what might be happening? I have exhausted all the avenues I can think of!
I know on Windows machines, this might mean a bad entry in the "hosts" file. I don’t know if that would apply to you.
In Windows, you can just delete any lines with that domain name and save the file.
You could also try
http://www.modx.com.
Finally got to the bottom of it, seems the domain was being filtered by PeerGuardian…
Maybe they thought the "x" in MODx meant X-rated.
