To test out MODx on my site, I created a subdomain called CMS. It seems to be working good, but now what is the best way to get it over to my root so it’s working on the main domain?
Do I have to adjust anything on the database, and will the info updated on the www/cms side move over alright?
Can I just drag them over?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Good luck with using this good system!
It’s pretty easy to do that... a couple of settings in admin, and you should be ready to just drag it, as you say.
Tools... Configuration... File Manager: check the path setting here. Chances are you’ll have an extra "cms" in there, and you’ll want to adjust that path. Also check....
Tools... Configuration...Interface and Features. Scroll down and look for "File Base Path". Same deal as above.
That’s the bulk of it. If you’ve set up FURL’s, you’ll need to adjust the .htaccess file, look for the Rewrite Base path, again, you may have "cms" in that path.
Optional - I also nearly always do:
Site... Clear Cache. Sometimes the old file paths in the cache will bork things.
Oh, I thought of one other thing. If your templates are using "Base href", this would likely need changing, too. I don’t use it, so I don’t run into it.
Unless there’s something unusual about the way your domain is set up, you should be operational!
Good luck!
