Heya,

For my current project I’ve got a menu which will look like something in the attachment.

Years ago I’ve worked with html image maps, using area’s, and that sounds like something that could be useful in this project for the menu.

I’m wondering if it’s good to use image maps, or that there are other (new?) solutions that would be better. Using an image map doesn’t sound like a very good seo practice, right?

Image maps are fine. You can use some text in a span that gets moved off the screen with CSS for the SEO stuff.
