Has anyone encountered issues using flash where IE7 and IE8 throw an error if the media you are playing comes from a different domain?
In my case, I’m using flowplayer for audio and video (using audio plugin to play audio). I have no problem with playing video from other domains, but with audio it causes an error in IE if the .mp3 file is on another domain.
To see what I’m referring to go to

If you view source, you’ll see that the file resides on Amazons S3, and the url will work just fine if you paste it into the browser URL bar. If I refer to the "Howe IE Error" file on the same domain (exact same file), there is no error. What’s weird is that some .mp3 files from other domains do work. For example, the link just before "Howe IE Error" for "Crazy Mary" is an .mp3 file from Amazon S3 also, and it works just fine. I can’t figure what the issue is.
I’m hoping that someone out there might be more knowledgeable about flowplayer/flash than I am and suggest a workaround. One solution I’ve come accross is to use a proxy server, but if I’m going to route requests from Amazon S3 through my shared server, I may as well just put the file on my shared server to begin with. Plus, this approach doesn’t seem very scalable.
