I trying to set up special urls for promotional offers or major sections.
Something like:
http://www.somesite.com/fantastic
that would redirect to some document :
http://www.somesite.com/index.php?id=123
I don’t want to use friendly urls. Just to set a few redirections.
As I’m testing on localhost with xampplite, the urls are something like this:
http://localhost/somesite/fantastic
http://localhost/somesite/index.php?id=123
I’m not much familiar with htaccess mod_rewrite module and the RewriteRule syntax (despite some knowledge of regular expressions) and have been unsuccessful with setting this. Is my Rewrite Rule too restricive for some reason ?

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule
(...)
# Special offers or sections
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
RewriteRule somesite/index.php?id=123$ somesite/fantastic$ [nc]
I would like the same code to work on both sides: localhost and remote site. (I’m sure this is possible).
