Automatic converting line break to

Did a bulk porting of content into MODx and now all contents are showing up as one long line. I suppose I could add a function in the porting process to convert all line breaks to
, but preferred to keep the raw data intact but only format them at presentation.

Are there things like output formatter/filter in MODx (in drupal i think they are misnomed as input filter)?

Also in Smarty, you can add a small processing funtion to your template variable such as {$content|nl2br} where $content would be the equavalent of TV and nl2br is the function. I wonder if there is similar constructs in MODx? I suppose one can probably write a snippet for this: is this the right way to go?
