He’s talking about web-based flash video players, not desktop media players.
I think Flowplayer is worth paying licensing for but it’s quite involved if you want it to look exactly how you wish. If you’re OK in Adobe Flash though, a few of them offer up their source so you can do what you like with it. Some I’ve come across include
