I’m planning to revamp my website and I’m running a copy of the current database in a local server (using WAMP on my computer) so I can remove the old data and rearrange stuff.
Once I’m done, I’ll be uploading the database to a new server. Now, I want to keep the new server and my local server in sync, so I can test things out w/out causing issues on the main site, and have a copy in case I don’t have internet access for some reason.
Any way to do a SQL dump via phpMyAdmin with MODx so it only alters data that was changed since the last import? Or would I need to "nuke" the local server each time and import the database as a whole (and vice-versa)?
Unless the site is huge you’ll probably find it a lot easier just to run a full export from one. If you tell phpMyAdmin to include the "DROP IF EXISTS" (I think thats the correct term, I don’t have access to any of mine at the moment) it will do all the leg work for you and the script it produces can just be imported at the other end.
This should work fine in both directions.
