Personal Wiki Recommendation

I would like to use a Wiki to store all my notes, snippets, diagrams, etc...
because I am starting to drown in paper and have a small ton of files
all over my system with pieces of info.

I started playing with WikkaWiki which looks promising for its features and
habilities but I dont like how the creation of new pages and the creation,
display and management of categories is done...

Does anybody has any good recommendation for me? I kinda want to shy away
from the biggies like MediaWiki (I leave it for Wikipedia) and its similars...

If you are looking for open source Wiki I would definitely choose DokuWiki for personal or small scale use. It’s very easy to implement and use. No database needed.

For even faster and easier solution Google Sites is an excellent candidate. No need to maintain and no need for wiki language.

Thanks, I will check DocuWiki. I will pass on GoogleSites as I want it hosted in my server...
this is personal info, ideas and the like, so I dont want big brother google sniffing on it.

You might find Zotero (http://www.zotero.org/) handy, if you are looking for a scrapbook. It works nicely with Firefox in a very natural sort of way, and it’s a good place to assemble notes and bits and pieces from web pages, even if you plan to transfer them to a more structured environment later.

Not exactly what I am looking for in this post, but thanks a lot for the tip about Zotero,

I’ll second dokuwiki, so simple to use and flat file which keeps it quick to transport.
