Currently there’s this new trend in allowing users to tag their content. This makes perfect sense for something like deviant art or youtube as you cannot use full text search on images and videos. But there are also text content sites which have alot of text. In this case, would you use the tag system or the fulltext search or use a search engine that indexes or use all in conjunction in some way. I’ve seen some sites that use it tag system for their content, but this is prone to errors and what if the user does not put in the right tags if any at all?
Is there a way to use all of them in some synergistic way?

You want user generated tags? Or tags for a Manager to control? You can search tags (they would be in form of a TV) with AjaxSearch. The latest releases have seen some great improvements on how you can isolate individual fields to search in.
Another great option is TVExplorer which is an advanced search engine for using with TVs.
I’m not saying I want tags or what not, what I meant is I want to know if there is anyway to use full text search and tag search in a synergistic way. So that fulltext can be correctly used for the body of a certain article, and tags can be used too...
However I realized after some thinking, is to use fulltext for actual searching for articles. But tags to show related content.
