Scrolling a list of events - that pauses - on a timer

I can’t find an example now that I’m looking for it, but I’m sure everyone has seen this.

I am wanting to display a list of events, one at a time, in a small container for a sidebar where space is limited. The goals...

• Show one item at at time from a list generated with Google Events or Ditto.
• After a preset time, scroll the next event into view
• Include the necessary page links to go to the event’s full page
• Have up/down buttons to advance or reverse the scrolling manually
• Loop back to the beginning of the list when the end is reached

Does anyone know if there is any open source code that does this or can anything in MODx already (Ditto + MooTools + something else).  I haven’t found it yet if so.

I’m a big fan of jQuery, and I usually use the newsticker plugin for this. You could also use the Cycle plugin for fancier effects or one of the tabs plugins for easier linking to each of the events. I’m sure that mootools has similar ticker, slideshow, and tab plugins that you could use also.
