I developed a web site for a charity several years ago - it is static HTML. They are now celebrating a significant milestone and want me to put together a site specifically for this. The problem is that I won’t have time to rebuild the whole original site in MODx and there is no way I’m going back to static HTML for this ’site within a site’ so I need to find a way to combine the two sites in the same directory.
Is there any way that I can do the following?:
www.mycharitywebsite.org - static site
www.mycharitywebsite.org/birthday - MODx site

Sure. If you install MODx into the birthday subdirectory then you’ll still be able to load and view the pages in the root directory as before. Alternatively you can usually install MODx into the root directory, since as far as I know MODx will first look for an actual file (say "about-us.html") and forward to it if it exists rather than showing users its page not found page.
