PHP/JavaScript to automatically crop image?

I found a easy way to "resize" images, like here, but cropping the image would look a lot better, IMHO.

All of the scripts I’ve found are ones that have the user do it, instead of doing it "behind-the-scenes".

Did you want to auto crop and resize or have the user enter the crop values manually? I would think it would not be that hard to have a script that would resize or expand to a max value (predefined) and simply use a z-index and overflow to "hide" the offending portion - this would give a cropped effect.

I have recently seen scripts to resize on the fly, and the overflow would be fairly easy to do as well...

Auto-crop to 75 x 75 pixels. I would need it for stuff like character artwork, which doesn’t resize nicely like screenshots can.
