Hey I was just wondering, are there any benefits to what suffix you append to the end of modx pages?
I currently use .htm but would there be any difference at all in any way if I started using .xhtml?
Use whatever suffix you want.
If your site is already online and have your pages named one way and that works correctly for you I’d personally stay with that. If there are links to your pages around already they will return a 404 unless you redirect requests for your old pages. You may also lose your placement within the search engines too.
I like to use ’/’ as my suffix, if I ever change to another language this will be transparent to users, as I can just use index.whatever files.
You could also just use none, for several reasons.
1: You’ll get little bit of a performance increase, see Andy King’s How to Speed Up Your Website for further details if your interested.
2: The other reason is that if you ever want to switch your site from a html pages to php .net asp or whatever, it won’t mess up your existing search engine juice, nor will it affect any sites who link to you or anyone who has bookmarked a page.
(saves writing all those redirects)
In other words it prevents and avoids some potentially nasty administration nightmares.

i also like using ’none’. Mainly because it looks better with using _GET parameters to me.
website.com/blog?sortby=ASC
instead of website.com/blog.html?sortby=ASC
I just like it better.
