I am watching Shaun’s video here:
http://vimeo.com/8335791?hd=1
At t=3:20 he says, "Most of you will be using beta5 so you’ll wanna leave these UNchecked."
At the bottom of the ’Install Options’ page are two check boxes.
The final check box says:
Check this if you exported MODx from SVN (no)
-or-
extracted it from the full MODx package to the server prior to installation.
I uploaded the archive modx-2.0-beta-5.zip to my server and unzipped it there using linux/unix unzip commnd from bash shell:
unzip -a modx-2.0-beta-5.zip
or tar -xzvf filename.tar.gz
if I can get *.tar.gz
Two questions:
1. Should I check this box? (It would seem I should, contrary to what Shaun says)
2. Is there a way to install MODx without first extracting the package to the server?
What am I missing? Is there terminology I need to familiarize myself with?
