thats good news especially now that some changes are coming along in 097, hopefully they wont affect the site a great deal. It would be nice if snippets/plugins (at least the most complex ones) could be installed by the installer thats in the repository, that way one could use the filemanager in the manager to upload a package, and unpackage it & install it step by step without use of an ftp client ( I do quite a bit of work off site on the move, (dont carry my laptop around too much because I have some v. important things on it) and to put a cherry on top of the pie, my host provider has its own hosting panel which doesnt have a file manager - but its a great host anyway:) )

The installation system is 1000% totally overhauled with 097+ that will address exactly such a scenario in many situations. It won’t work 100% of the time because some hosts won’t support the configurations need, but you’ll still be able to address the main pain point by manually FTPing up installation packages into your package directory.
