    It should work just as I posted it.
    You definitely shouldn’t need ...
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="630" height="131" id="flashmenu">
    				<param name="movie" value="assets/flash/navigate.swf" />
    				<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    				<!--[if !IE]>-->
    				<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="assets/flash/navigate.swf" width="630" height="131">
    					<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    				<!--<![endif]-->
    					<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer">
    						<img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" />
    					</a>
    				<!--[if !IE]>-->
    				</object>
    				<!--<![endif]-->
    			</object>

    The swfobject code replaces all the <object> code.
    Here’s an example where I have it running http://www.crickweb.co.uk/faqs.html
    You have lots of different JS being called in your page.
    Maybe there’s a conflict.
    Perhaps try on a blank page to test it out?

      Nope it’s still not working.

      I looked at the JS file you are using etc and it won’t show up. I took out all the other JS files and it won’t show up. It shows the adobe flash button though but the swf won’t appear.

          I think i’ve managed to get it working after clearing my cache in my browser and site. Also Ubuntu was playing up with FF so the combination probably was stopping me seeing it working. Anyway, i’ll see how it goes when i reapply the JS scripts and if i need more help i’ll be back!

          Thanks!

            Ok I retried it with all the JS in place again and it works fine... I then tried it with the latest swfobject JS file and it doesn’t work so I used the same one used on your site and it works so I assume the latest swfobject is not working with MODx some how? I think it’s 2.0

              I only downloaded the js file yesterday from deconcept.com, the originators, it’s v1.5
              Not sure where you got yours from!

                Again, nothing to do with MODx here. The SWFobject script has changed from version to version (it used to be called flashobject), so you probably had a mismatch between the script in the head and the code in the body. I see that the Google Code page is a lot more difficult to make sense of than the old SWFobject project page, which may be why you’ve been having trouble.

                The method I use and recommend is found under "STEP 2: Include the SWFObject JavaScript library in the head of your HTML page" on this page.

                Firefox on Ubuntu is a perfectly good development environment (it’s what I use), and when you have JavaScript problems look at the Error COnsole in the Tools menu for clues.

                  I had a look at swffix and it’s not very clear on how you actually get the flash in to your site. Being a noob like me i need an example of exactly what is needed rather than you can do this, mix it with this and try that. I understand that modx is not for a beginner but i’m learning.

                  I’ve looked at the instructions and i jsut can’t understand what to do with it. >:(

                    SWFobject 2.0rc4 works just fine here.

                      I have it working but other parts of modx seem to flagging up problems... I’ve had validation errors with webloginpe and wayfinder so far. I’m trying to work with strict XHTML as a test to see if I can get to grips with it. So far it’s not going 100% lol
