Anyone using PHP Speedy in a MODx project?

Just thought I’d see if anyone’s using it and how it’s going for them. I know GZIP compression is "ready to go" in the MODx’ .htaccess file but with the other tweaks this looks pretty sweet.

Looks interesting. Speed optimization is becoming a very important element to building great sites and apps. Users prefer sites that work fast. Broadband makes people less patient with content. I might test it out with MODx the issues that may arise may be the built in flags for compression but I have started using Bluprint CSS on some of my projects and this would certainly be easier than having to do my own css compression on release and I could just let the server do it on the fly. It would be even cooler if you could cache the output as well and then not have to call the php at all...

I am starting a new project on Tuesday so I may try this on that and report back.

I’ll be testing this on a couple of my remote dev sites as soon as I finish reading the forums; I have to switch browsers since Firebug doesn’t work with FF 3.0b3pre yet.

Boy, does this open whole new horizons in web development! I’m still at the stage of playing with the Yahoo! YSlow extenstion to Firebug. Never heard of ETags or CDN. New toys!!!

it will combine multiple css files into one, and multiple javascript files into one js file, and minify them. It’s quite easy to tweak the code so that it will instead ’pack’ javascript (instead of minifying it) saving even more space. It also supports gzip compression too. If you modify any of your source files, it will output new versions automatically.

It’s quite easy to make a plugin for this attached to one of the caching events... but i don’t have the code on me now :’(. just thought i’d point it out.

Anyone successfully integrate this with MODx? I tried it a few updates prior and it caused errors.
