I have a section of a site i am building that will contain 3 input boxes in a form - business name, business city (drop-down) and business category (drop-down). all businesses are entered as docs in the tree and tvs are built to house the city and category values). upon submission of search form, i need to supply the resulting matches on the page.
before i custom code this entire thing, are there any existing snippets that will help me build this? from what i can tell, ajaxSearch will search across TV’s, but from what i can tell it only allows one input paramater and i need the name to match specifically to the pagetitle, the city to match specifically to the business name and the category to match specifically to the business category.
also, if there is no such snippet available, are there API functions that would help me avoid the multiple joins required to get to these results? if it’s already built or available, i do not want to recreate.

tvEditor/tvExplorer does just what you want. It’s a little bit funky to set up, but search these forums and you’ll find threads with the info you need. I’ve used it many times now and it’s worked fine for me.

yeah, i guess this was right under my nose because i remember seeing it mentioned somewhere (but for some reason I thought it was a back-end module and passed right over it). but this looks like exactly what i need.
