I’m planning on starting a "Music" section where users can listen to songs from the Tales series, and I will be having those MP3’s on the server, which is what the script will get them from.
Now, if I get a smart user that figures out where those files are, that wouldn’t be good. So is there a way to "block" them from viewing those files, and still allow the script to access them?
A much better way would be storing those MP3s outside the web root folder (i.e. beneath "public_html" or whatever your top dir is called).
You would still be able to access the files via PHP, but you wouldn’t be able to download or link to them.
Yes, this is a much more elegant solution.
